Tahiti

TAHITI is the commercial name of a bivalve shell, a precious pearl oyster producing the pearl gray. It ‘a PTERIDE and belongs to the family of PTERIIDAE. The species is the Pteria Margaritifera or, more precisely, PINCTADA Margaritifera. The nuance of its pearl is a very special gray iridescent hues  with more or less dark  variations (from pearl to dark gray, with beautiful green reflections / blue). Even a single diskette cut this shell quite often does not have a unique gradient.
It comes from Tahiti, Polynesia .
