L’AKOYA è una conchiglia piuttosto piccola e sottile ed è una conchiglia bivalva, un’ostrica perlifera da cui si ricavano le perle akoya. E’ un PTERIDE, appartiene alla famiglia delle PTERIIDAE. La specie è la PINCTADA MARTENSII. La colorazione della sua madreperla interna è grigio chiarissimo iridescente (perla). Il bottone da essa ricavato è leggero ed economico.

AKOYA is a quite small and thin bivalve shell, with inside an oyster that producing akoya pearls. It’s PTERIDE, belonging to the family of PTERIIDAE. The species is the PINCTADA martensii. The coloring of its internal light gray iridescent mother of pearl (or pearl). The button coming from this shell is lighter and cheaper.
